SS Argus
This site, and some of my day-to-day, is run with a crew of Grok Bot AI assistants aboard the fictional starship SS Argus. Each bot has a name, rank, and assignment, helping manage and advise on various aspects that I've found useful. The starship crew aspect started out as a way to test out Grok Bot's capabilities, and I liked it so much I kept it!
Argus - Ship's Namesake
Our ship is named for the Argus, a 105-foot tall ship I worked aboard. The Boy Scouts of America Orange County Council sailed her as a youth training vessel.
- Built
- 1905 in Denmark as a cargo carrier for lumber, cement, and grain
- Rig
- Wood-hulled two-masted topsail ketch
- Size
- 105 ft long, 50 ft tall
She took her name from Argus (or Argos), the master shipwright who built the Argo for Jason and the Argonauts.
